Attempting the happiest place on earth

We booked a trip in January to Florida. I couldn't handle the cold in Chicago any longer and our kids are at the perfect age to start traveling more. They are both great at falling sleep where ever we are and will sleep through the night. I chose Orlando, we had went there last year and had a great time. The resorts are family friendly and although we don't visit Disney, the resorts make it a great option for our little ones. Last year when we visited the weather was PERFECT. Seriously not a cloud in the sky and it was in the 80s all 3 days. This year not so much... We arrived to winds and clouds and I realized if it was like this the whole time we were screwed because I only packed tanks, dresses and shorts for the whole family... We were also planning on just hanging out by the pool the whole time. So cold weather was really going to put a damper on our trip... The next morning we woke up to clouds and rain. Yes rain. I looked at my husband and could just see the money we had spent on the trip wasted because what the heck else where we going to do with two toddlers in the rain?! we had planned to be outside not really go anywhere and just relax. That was looking like it wasn't going to happen. We decided to head out and went straight for a tourist trap clothing store and bought both kids a jogging suit and sweatshirts for ourselves so we could stay warm, that alone cost us a couple hundred with how much they upsell everything! We walked around the touristy strip in matching rain ponchos trying to take in the stores and scenery. As we walked we happened up on a stand that was selling disney tickets. My husband headed in and came back out 5 minutes later informing me we could get two tickets to a disney park for the price of one and the kids go free. I really had no interest in going to disney. 1. the kids were so young i didn't want to spend the money on it. 2. I'm a planner and I didn't get my 6 months of advanced planning time to look into every aspect of every park to decide which ones would be best for our family to visit. So i had no idea which park to chose and why. He took my silence as a yes and pulled me into the hut. We soon found out we could get a free ticket after going to the nearby west gate hotel and listening to a speech about why we should purchase a time share there. And once the 90 minutes was up we would get our tickets. I didn't want to do it my husband said why the heck not its pouring rain right now what else are we going to do and its going to rain tomorrow so at least well have somewhere fun to go.

By the end of the tour my husband was buying everything the guide said and asking informative questions. I kept giving him a side eye to stop!! But he kept going at the end I finally looked at the guy and said thank you for your time but No we will not be purchasing anything. And let me tell you if you have never done one these before these sales people are persistant!! And i get it its their job but man they do not take no for an answer. Our guy said his goodbyes and said Laura would be over with our tickets. What he meant was Laura would be over to convice us once again to purchase. I politely told Laura no and she looked at me as if i had offended her and insulted her hair, outfit and makeup that day. She asked why? why again? and finally ok and went and go our ticket. So when you get your ticket it comes in a long receipt like sheet that my husband gave to me for safe keeping. He also chose The Island of Adventures for our theme park of choice.

The next morning we woke up jogging suits and rain ponchos ready to venture out on our day at Universal Studios. Our hotel was next door to the universal studios park so my husband decided with the advice of the bell hop to forgo the uber and walk the "15 minutes" to the theme park in the drizzling rain... We headed off on a walk that turned into 65 minutes but we made it and the kids faces glowed with excitement taking in all the scenery around them. It was definitely worth everything we went through the day before. We got in line to enter the park and made our way up to the ticket counter. I unzipped my bag and went into my wallet for the tickets to find nothing... I looked at my husband with a panicked face. I check my entire bag frantically and the tickets where no where to be found. We were told to head over to reservations for help retrieving our tickets. I felt miserable and so awful. I coudnt believe i had lost the tickets, the tickets we spent 2 hours with strangers for that we  spent money on. I couldn't even believe it. We got up to the counter and explained what happened. The lady looked at us and wasn't sure what to do. And told us we could go back to the westgate and ask them to look up our records and get another set of tickets. She then asked if we drove and thats when I lost it. I started bawling, and apologizing, and wiping the snot from my nose as i explained that we walked an hour and a half and i had no idea what to do. She thankfully took mercy on my mommy heart and somehow found our order and was able to retrieve our tickets. My husbands heart softened, it all worked out and i still felt guilty as h*ll for losing the tickets.

But our day was fun, magical and wet! The kids enjoyed themselves and we decided to bring them back when they are both over 36 inches so we can actually go on the rides 😂
